In today’s constantly connected world, companies that want to remain competitive must maintain relevant, engaging social media presences. Cultivating an organization’s online presence takes work, but ignoring online content interactions is not an option. According to a 2018 Harris Poll, 72% of millennials and 47% of all Americans age 45 and older are more likely to be loyal to brands that respond to online feedback vs. brands that do not.
The way your organization manages and responds to online interactions, posts, comments, and responses from the public can either enhance your brand or harm it. “Content moderation” refers to making timely determinations about whether users’ interactions are acceptable, based on predefined rules, legalities, and guidelines. When content does not meet the organization’s standards, content moderators remove the content, or simply do not allow the content to be posted on company social media pages or websites.
Finding an efficient way to manage the content moderation process can help ensure that your marketing and social media efforts remain free of offensive comments or otherwise inappropriate content, such as material that is potentially libelous or slanderous, obscene, profane, inflammatory, abusive, or violates copyright or trademark protections. Content moderation, when done well, can provide invaluable support to organizations. However, it can be challenging for businesses to monitor social media sites and “mentions,” online conversations and blog posts, videos posted or uploaded to the Internet, audio files, and images, and to do so effectively and in a timely manner.
Bringing on a content moderation support partner with trained, experienced content moderators that are managing the company’s reputation allows organizations to stay abreast of important brand interactions. Whether they are working independently or using AI tools, content moderation professionals help protect and enhance the brands of the organizations they support.
