Law firms and companies engaged in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) must create process efficiencies in order to collect, review, and analyze large amounts of data in a cost-effective manner. Outsourcing legal support services to an LPO with the experience in handling M&A work is growing in popularity – for good reason. Law firms and in-house counsel can realize several advantages from outsourcing mergers and acquisitions law services, including:
- End-to-End Support. Outsourcing M&A work to an LPO means your firm or organization will have support from the pre-merger planning stage all the way through the close of the transaction. From coordinating and reviewing contracts to assisting with post-merger integration activities, firms can expand their in-house capabilities without adding full-time, permanent staff.
- Process Efficiencies. LPOs that offer support for mergers and acquisitions law services are able to do so cost-effectively because they have established internal efficiencies and are adept at reviewing and analyzing complex documents. Because the highly-trained LPO attorneys handling due diligence, contract review, and other tasks involved with the transaction routinely handle that type of work, they can easily identify missing documents or missing information, helping to minimize delays and keeping the legal team on schedule.
- Confidentiality. LPOs understand the confidential nature of M&A, and have internal processes and procedures in place designed to help ensure the security and private nature of the information being reviewed. Because they appreciate that client information needs the highest level of protection, reputable LPOs have put systems, processes, and procedures in place to protect it.
- Scalability. Mergers and acquisitions are time-sensitive projects for any firm or legal department. Tasks that might take a single paralegal days or even weeks to complete can be handled quickly when M&A work is outsourced to an LPO with the bandwidth to scale quickly, providing significant time savings. By leveraging an experienced team, LPOs can easily identify errors or outliers requiring more follow-up, helping identify potential issues sooner.
