Depositions are an important tool used to gather testimony transcripts from potential witnesses. These documents are subsequently used in court or may be used for the purposes of discovery. For many firms and corporations, the challenge is that depositions are often hundreds of pages long and the resources may not be available to review them efficiently. This is particularly true in cases involving testimony that is complex or relies heavily on exhibits or technical information. Given these challenges, it may often be appropriate to consider working with a company that provides deposition services, one that is capable of reviewing deposition transcripts and providing summaries in an efficient manner.
Depositions are most useful when they include a summary that combines all the relevant facts of the case into a format that provides a more digestible review for the attorney. In most cases, an attorney does not have the time to study, analyze, and summarize the deposition on their own. Using deposition services support can be invaluable in these cases. Some of the benefits include:
- Time Savings. Deposition review services will dedicate the time needed to summarize a deposition; this allows your legal staff, including paralegals, to focus on other matters in your office. Outsourcing to a firm that has attorneys trained in deposition services typically means you will get the documents you need much faster than if you waited for in-house staff members to complete them.
- Cost Savings. Most law firms do not want to pay paralegals or attorneys to review and summarize depositions; the costs are simply too great. In nearly all cases, outsourcing services can save a law firm between 30% and 50% of the typical cost of summarizing.
- Experience. Choosing experienced legal professionals to handle deposition transcript review means the personnel reviewing transcripts have a solid understanding of the deposition review process. This enables them to quickly and easily highlight information that may be significant in transcripts and locate relevant exhibits. With this dedicated legal team, you will benefit from their extensive experience with reviewing, analyzing, and summarizing depositions.
Having access to a solution that is both effective and saves costs for transcript review can be very beneficial to law firms and in-house counsel.
