Legal research is one of the initial as well as critical components for gathering relevant information on case law, regulations, compliance issues, statutes, and other domestic and international legal requirements. Research takes time and internal resources and it can pull staff members from important client management tasks, internal stakeholder responsibilities, and growth opportunities. Those competitors that understand the value provided by outsourcing legal research, and how it feeds organizational growth and savings by relieving the burdens associated with keeping it in-house, are already benefiting from these services.
Growing Your Business
New business is what keeps law firms and corporations growing. However, when you prioritize lengthy research activities, it can create a backlog on growth-related functions. Freeing up attorneys’ time from performing research allows them to work on new cases and new business ventures, which directly relates to organizational growth. Outsourcing can be done on a project-by-project basis — meaning you are only paying for research services as you need them and there is no need to hire additional staff. Your competitors are benefiting from hiring research professionals who are equipped with knowledge of industry-specific research requirements, which in turn allows these competitors to focus on other growth activities.
Current Legal Research Sources
While your firm or the company you represent may have access to a variety of research tools and materials, legal support companies with research expertise can help you utilize those resources more efficiently. Because this is their specialty, they expedite the process so it is quick and effective – which means you are not losing time and additional resources.
Legal research is time-consuming, complex, and must be done correctly to ensure the final documentation complies with legal requirements. Having access to both an effective and cost-saving solution for legal research can be beneficial to law firms and in-house counsel. If you are considering the benefits of outsourcing your legal research or would like to learn more, contact Baer Reed legal research services and find out what we can do for your practice.
