Social media has become the cornerstone of brand content, communications, and online marketing campaigns, providing organizations with the ability to connect with clients/customers in ways never before possible. However, the proliferation of social media outlets has led to some potential pitfalls, including the possibility of negative customer commentary, which can spread virally and reach a large audience quickly. Competitors who are already monitoring social media buzz have the opportunity to take advantage of these sensitive times. This is one of the reasons why social media content monitoring is a crucial part of every company’s business and marketing strategy.
What Is Social Media Content Monitoring?
Simply put, social media content monitoring involves listening to and following what is being said across a wide range of social media outlets. Through this process, companies can audit information about how customers/clients are talking about their services, get feedback, and monitor any negative, obscene, or abusive comments, libelous content, spam, inappropriate content, and copyright/trademark issues.
Effective Social Media Content Monitoring Can Benefit Your Business
Protecting Your Brand Integrity
Your organization has worked hard to build a brand name with honesty and integrity. Maintaining these values is critical for success. By monitoring your own content as well as public social media content, you can protect that brand integrity from any false or inaccurate information being disseminated.
Helping You Gather Crucial Feedback
Social media monitoring can help you gauge the reaction to a new marketing campaign, product offering, or other major announcement, which can help you refine and tailor your approach to your specific target audience.
Humanizing Your Business’ Public Image
One of the main advantages of maintaining a social media presence is its ability to give your organization a human voice, and monitoring and responding to customer and client questions and feedback can humanize your organization even further.
Enabling You to Successfully Respond to Negative Social Media Buzz
It’s all but inevitable that someone will have something negative to say about your organization at some point. If you’ve been monitoring what’s being said on social media, you have the opportunity to respond and resolve the issue early on before it spreads through various social media channels.
Social media content monitoring is a critical piece of online communications for any business. However, establishing a content monitoring framework on your own can be a challenge to internal resources. Baer Reed can manage the social media content monitoring process for your organization to help ensure your brand integrity and positive online presence.
